The Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) has successfully carried out a targeted operation resulting in the arrest of an individual in connection with the possession and sale of illegal narcotics.
At approximately 12:45 PM on April 17, 2025, a search and seizure warrant was executed on the residence of Ms. T-Girl Thomas, a 33-year-old Liberian national residing in Butaw Town, District 1, Sinoe County.
The operation, led by the LDEA’s Chief of Operations, uncovered the following: Half plate of high-grade marijuana, with an estimated street value of US$50 or L$9,500.
One ounce of Kush, with an estimated street value of US$560 or L$106,400.
Suspect Thomas admitted ownership of the seized substances and was immediately taken into custody for further investigation at the LDEA headquarters in Greenville.
Following a thorough review of the evidence, she has been formally charged under Section 14:85 of the Amended Drug Law of the Republic of Liberia for possession and sale of illegal substances.
The suspect, along with the confiscated evidence, has been forwarded to court for prosecution.
According to LDEA, the arrest is part of a broader effort to disrupt local drug networks and prevent the proliferation of harmful substances in rural communities.
“Our mission is clear: we will continue to aggressively pursue all those involved in drug trafficking, no matter how remote their operations,” Davis said.
He explained, “Butaw Town is not a safe haven for criminal activity, and we urge the public to remain vigilant.”
Local authorities confirmed that the raid came after several months of surveillance and tips from community members.
Residents in Butaw Town have expressed relief over the LDEA’s interdiction, describing the operation as a “wake-up call” for the district.
“We want a safe environment for our children. Drugs have no place in our community,” one elder, who requested anonymity, told reporters.
The LDEA has indicated that further investigations are underway to determine if Ms. Thomas was acting independently or as part of a larger distribution ring; additional arrests may follow as intelligence is analyzed.
The LDEA encourages all citizens to continue supporting the national fight against drug trafficking and abuse.
