LAA Boss Promises Significant Reforms -Settles 3 Months Arears, Expands RIA Arrival Terminal

The Managing Director of the Liberia Airport Authority (LAA), Jero Mends-Cole, has announced plans to make significant reforms at the country’s only international airport, the Roberts International Airport (RIA).
The Managing Director’s commitment comes following the LAA’s move to settle three months salary arears for LAA employees and expand the passengers’ arrival terminal at the airport.
The timely disbursement of salary arears during the festive season has been welcomed by the LAA staff, bolstering Employees’ productivity and putting smiles on the faces of employees.
Commenting on the payment of employees arears, Mends-Cole said the three months arears were inherited by his administration.
Mends-Cole emphasized the importance of the efforts of the employees of the LAA, describing them as the backbone for the institution.
“By addressing the immediate financial concerns of our dedicated staff, we are not only fulfilling our obligation but investing in the backbone of our operations,” Mends-Cole asserted. “We are exerting major efforts to implement major reform at this airport to encourage the operations of many airlines to Liberia. And those gains are being made.”
In conjunction to settling arears, the LAA has also expanded the passenger arrival terminal at the RIA.
The expansion project is crucial as the airport seeks to accommodate an increasing number of travelers especially during the time the country is witnessing the resumption of airlines flights including Ethiopian Airlines, Turkish Airlines and others.
The expansion not only focuses on capacity but also aims at integrating modern amenities that reflect international standards.
“Concurrently, the terminal expansion underscores our commitment to improving service quality and preparing for the future growth in air travels to and fro Liberia,” Mends-Cole stated.
