Cataloguing presidential flaws in administrations coupled with systematic corruption, Civil Society advocate, Sheikh Al-MoustaphaKouyateh on March 24, declared his intention to be President of Liberia.
Liberia goes to the Presidential and Legislative Elections on October 10, 2023 barely seven months this year.
“As we approach these pivotal elections, let us remember that our decisions will have far-reaching consequences for our children and future generations,” Kouyateh stated.
“We face many significant challenges, but I am confident that, with your support, we can surmount any obstacle and achieve greatness,” he added.
“Our task is clear to replace poor leadership with a trustworthy, reliable, accountable, and compassionate leader who prioritizes economic growth, job creation, access to quality education and healthcare, social justice, civil rights, national security, and foreign policy,” Kouyateh declared his intention to contest.
Ahead of the Presidential and Legislative Elections that is scheduled for October 10, 2023; “I envision a Liberia that is more prosperous, equitable, and peaceful; a nation that offers opportunities for all, regardless of tribe, religion, or social class,” Kouyateh stressed.
Responding to questions on why he is so confident of becoming the next President of Liberia after losing twice in Senatorial Elections in Montserrado, he asserted, “My failures in the biggest City had given me the strength and courage to contest for Liberia’s presidency”
He also added that he did not lose all hopes as it is being insinuated; but rather, he was one of the leading advocates for the call to boycott the constitutional amendment which Liberians listen to him and defeated that part of President Weah’s call for over 80%.
He further said, “My dream of becoming President of Liberia can be a reality, provided the dream is within our reach if we implement a holistic approach that addresses our economic, educational, social, and security needs.”
“I cannot accomplish this alone; I need your support, your voice, and your vote to make this vision a reality. Thus it is with immense pride and honour that I stand before you on this historic day, March 24, 2023, to declare my candidacy for the Presidency of our great nation, Liberia.”
“When I am elected as the 25th President of Liberia, I vow to unite our nation and drive transformational change. We will enhance our security and intelligence infrastructure, reform our justice system to ensure fair remuneration and welfare for judicial personnel and guarantee justice and the rule of law for all,” Kouyateh assured.
“We will prioritize infrastructural development, create a conducive environment for businesses to thrive, and revolutionize agriculture by investing in mechanization and the farm-to-table value chain,” he further assured.
According to him, if elected as President of Liberia, vowed that his administration will empower the tech-economy to generate jobs for millions, expand our social investment programs into a comprehensive social welfare scheme, and strive to eradicate poverty for millions of Liberians within this decade.
“We will ensure that every Liberian, regardless of gender, has access to education and that our curriculum is tailored to meet the challenges of the 21st Century. We will work towards universal healthcare coverage and empower local governments to effectively serve their constituents,” Kouyateh stressed.
“Together, we can provide jobs and opportunities for our young people. Through the support of Liberians at home and in the Diaspora, we will embark on this ambitious journey to forge a better future for our nation,” he concluded.
