Residents of Yanfarquelleh Clan in Salala District, Lower Bong County, over the weekend endorsed the senatorial candidacy of Edward Karfiah, to contest in the ensuing presidential and legislative elections.
The Yanfarquelleh citizens, in their endorsement statement, said, after a vigorous screening process of various candidates vying for the Senate in Bong County, the name Edward Karfiah has surfaced as their choice.
They pointed out the construction of health facilities, road rehabilitation, women and youth empowerments, education, and Karfiah’s experience in the legislature as some reasons that triggered their decision.
The citizens also noted that the two sitting senators of Bong County are all from upper Bong, thus electing Karfiah as senator of Bong will balance the two regions’ representation at the Liberian Senate.
They further described Karfiah as their son and a great man that Lower Bong cannot afford losing, and as such, vowed to vigorously campaign and ensure that the lawmaker emerges victorious after the October 10 polls.
Accepting the citizens’ endorsement, Karfiah thanked the Yanfarquelleh inhabitants for seeing him as one of them, with a call for them to prove their love at the ballot box.
He used the gathering to warn Bongese against the intake of drugs, cautioning them to avoid those involved with the marketing of the harmful substance.
The program brought together over five hundred inhabitants of the area, including chiefs, elders, women, and youth groups in Salala Town, lower Bong County.
According to reports so far, Karfiah has received the highest senatorial endorsements in Bong County, something many political pundits see as a milestone to his possible election as senator of Bong County.
