July 26 Activities Kickoff Today …Golden Image Award Tonite

Activities marking the 172nd Independence Day Celebrations are expected to begin today with a prelude by the Crusaders for Peace Golden Image Awards and dinner which is expected to begin at 6:00 p.m. in the Ballroom of the Monrovia City Hall.
On Friday, July 19, President George Weah will lead an array of Government officials to an Intercessory Prayer organized and coordinated by the National Muslim Council of Liberia.
The Muslim Thanksgiving and Intercessory Prayer service
is expected to take place at 12 noon at the Black Jinnah Mosque in Jacob Town, Paynesville.
On Saturday, July 20, the Ministry of Youth and Sports will organize and coordinate sporting activities at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium where there will be series of football matches, which will be climaxed by a match between the Government of Liberia and the United Nations system in Liberia.
The guest preacher who is the Rector of the St. Thomas Episcopal Church on Camp Johnson Road, Rev. Fr. Michael Tuan Sie, Sr., will deliver the sermon at the Thanksgiving and Intercessory Service organized by the Liberia Council of Churches on Sunday, July 21.
President Weah will again lead an array of government officials to attend this year’s Thanksgiving and Intercessory Service which is expected to be held at the Liberty Christian Center in the Township of Johnsonville.
Meanwhile, on Monday, July 22, President Weah will begin the dedication of projects beginning with the Youth Innovation Hub at the SMART Liberia Headquarters on 2nd Street, Russell Avenue in Sinkor at 12 noon.
On Tuesday, July 23, the President will continue the dedication of developmental projects as early as 11:00 a.m. beginning with the Sethi Brothers Steel Production Plant Gardnersville and later at 2:00 p.m., he and his delegation will be dedicating the Shangyou Rubber Wood Processing Factory in Todee in rural Montserrado County.
On Wednesday, July 24, President Weah and the Grand Master of the Orders of Distinction will confer distinction on citizens of the Republic of Liberia and on other distinguished personalities at an Investiture ceremony to be coordinated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
This will be followed by a reception, hosted by the President in honor of the honorees, which will be coordinated by the Ministry of State for Presidential Affairs at 4:00 p.m. in the Cecil Dennis, Jr. Auditorium followed by a reception at 6:00 p.m. in the Foyer Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The dedication of projects will continue on Thursday, July 25, with the President dedicating developmental projects beginning with the Ministerial Complex (Ministry of Public Works)by 1o:00 a.m. as well as the Roberts International Airport (Liberia Airport Authority).
Ceremonies in observance of the 172nd Independence Anniversary will be held on Friday, July 26, which will commence with the official programme at 11: 00 a.m. at the Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Complex in Paynesville.
The National Oration, president of the Gbowee Peace Foundation/Africa Leymah Roberta Gbowee will be speaking on the theme, “Together, We are Stronger.”
The indoor program will be followed by a parade involving the Armed Forces of Liberia and representations from the 15 political sub-divisions while the Independence Day luncheons will be hosted at the Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Complex in Paynesville and the Ministerial Complex on the Tubman Boulevard, Congo Town.
The National colors will be hoisted at the Barclay Training Center followed by the arrival and review of troops by President Weah, Commander- In-Chief of the Armed Forces of Liberia.
President Weah and First Lady Clar Weah will meet and interact with the children in series of activities with the distribution of gifts to them as well as the Children’s Socialization Day organized by the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection on Saturday, July 27.
Meanwhile, foreign Presidents expected to attend Liberia’s Independence Day include Nigeria, Burkina Faso, Guinea, Cote d’Ivoire and Sierra Leone.
