award is in recognition to Judge Kollie’s dedicated effort and support towards the development and promotion of football in Liberia.
Receiving the award on behalf of the honoree, Momoh Siryon commended the farsightedness of SWAL and the 2023 Congress Committee for recognizing the contribution of the former President of the Liberia Football Referee Association towards football development in the country.
He promised to officially present the award to the honoree upon his return to the country.
The honoree served as a central referee in Liberia; upon his retirement, he served as president of the Liberia Football Referee Association, at which time he made the institution vibrant, making it one of the best on the continent, giving many referees the opportunity to officiate international matches.
The honoree is a legal luminary, a renowned veteran football referee instructor, and a football administrator.
Based on his vast experience in the legal sector, he was appointed by the President of the Republic of Liberia, George M. Weah, Sr. in 2021 as a Resident Judge for the National Labor Court, Temple of Justice, to serve his country.
The jurisdiction of the National Labor Court is confined to causes that involve employees, workmen, and causes, to which employees, other than civil servants, and specific categories of government employees such as military and police, are parties.
Meanwhile, Judge Kollie has congratulated the newly elected leadership of the Sports Writers Association of Liberia and the entire membership for committing to a smooth, free, fair, and transparent process.
He has promised to work with the new leadership in any capacity, whenever necessary.
On Saturday, December 9, 2023, the parent body of all Sports Journalists in Liberia conducted its elections, bringing onboard a new leadership to lead the affairs of the association for the next three years.
Those elected are Varmah Kamara as president, Christopher C. Walker as Vice president, Edwin Dolo as Secretary General, Jerome Willie as Assistant Secretary, Naomi Tappia as Financial Secretary, and Yusuf Sherif as Chaplain.
However, the Liberian lawyer has urged the new leadership to work with all members for the improvement and unity of the association.
