Journalists Commence Elections Code Of Conduct Validation

The National Elections Commission (NEC) along with its partners and with support from the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), has gathered media stakeholders at a three-day review and adoption session on the code of conduct for elections reporting. 

The event which is taking place in Buchanan City, Grand Bassa include editors, publishers and other media development practitioners drew participants from Bomi, Margibi, Montserrado, Grand Cape Mount, Rivercess, and Sinoe for the purpose of reminding journalists about the law and its enforcement powers.

The three-day deliberation focuses on preventing conflict through professional reporting, signs and dangers of misinformation, disinformation, mal-information and hate speech to the 2023, gender responsive reporting on women in politics, legal framework to NEC’s statutes, regulations, policies procedures, structure and mandate of the NEC, hearing complaint procedures amongst others.
