There are reports that some US$12, 250 has disappeared from the Flompa Public High School account.
Speaking to this paper in Flompa Town, Madam Victoria Yeah explained that during the 2020-2021 academic year, IRSE made available US$12, 250 to carry out renovation at the Flompa Public School.
According to Madam Yeah, the administration of the school diverted the money instead of renovating the campus.
IRISE is working with over 465 public schools within the Nimba School System and is providing financial assistance to 13 districts where the government operated schools are located.
Flompa Public High School is among government ruined senior high schools that are seeking help from any donors to improve the learning environment.
When this paper contacted the Flompa Public School, principal Eugene Blohn, confirmed that some US$12, 250 was deposited into the school’s account by IRISE in 2020-2021 but was later taken away by some unknown persons without notice to the school teaching staff or administrations.
The public-school principal explained how many of the residents in the district have been accusing the administration and the PTA leadership of diverting the money to another purpose.
“The administration and school board decided to use the money to renovate the entire campus, ” the principal continued.
When contacted via mobile phone, IRISE Project Coordinator Abraham D. Kiazolu confirmed that Flompa Public School received an undisclosed amount of United States Dollars from IRISE to carry out projects.
However, Kiazolu explained that a portion of the money sent to the Flompa Public School was an oversight therefore, some cash was later returned through withdrawal from the account and transferred to the W.V.S. Tubman High School in Kpen Township.
The project coordinator of IRISE remained tight-lipped over the total cash deposited in the Flompa account as well as the cash transferred to W.V.S. Tubman High School.
CEO Moses Dologbay of the Ministry of Education Central Office in Sanniquellie, disclosed that Flompa Public School was not qualified for all the amount deposited in its account therefore, the money was transferred to W.V.S. Tubman High School.
This is the second allegation that links the Ministry of Education and partners to money saga in the county.
During the beginning of 2022, the principal of the Ma. Hawa Community School in Tappita alleged that the WASH water project for the school was a failure as it was expected to kick off in 2020-2021 but started in the mid 2022-2023 school year.
