Invite Non-Partisans In Governance –Visiting Bishop Urges Pres. Weah

A visiting prelate, Rev. Dr. Calvin A. Birch has cautioned President Weah to do away with partisanship and invite non-partisans and other credible men and women of God for counsel in order for his government to succeed.
Rev. Birch who is the founder of the Lighthouse International Church in Richmond, Virginia, USA warned that President Weah should watch for those who are bent on appeasing him for personnel gains, adding that they are everywhere even in his government.
The Bishop made the exertion when he served as gust preacher on the occasion marking the climax of the events commemorating the 199th Anniversary of the Providence Baptist Church, Sunday, March 1, 2020 in Monrovia.
Preaching on the theme: “A LETTER FROM THE LORD” form the book of Jeremiah 29:1-14, Rev. Birch reminded the President that the love Liberia had for him in the past has never changed, emphasizing that the Liberians still love him, and want him to use the love of the Liberian people as a political capital to bring development to their country.
According to Bishop Birch, though the country is undergoing the metamorphosis for tomorrow’s generation, as things may not seem like what the citizenry want it to be, but reminded Liberians that God is alive and that a butterfly is in the making, stressing that Liberia will fly again.
He noted that the time is coming when folks from all over the world will be rushing into Liberia, indicating that in the meantime, God wants all Liberians to hold together, to love one another, to forgive each other as God in Christ has loved and forgiven the country.
The visiting prelate added, “God says Liberians should unite and build, wait for their appointed time, that the country is blessed more than anyone knows, and I’ve been hanging out with Jesus for quite some time now and I know he’s never late or too early, as he’s always on time.”
Bishop Birch alluded that it’s time for Liberians to brew love everywhere, love in the church, love within the deaconate, love and unity flowing within the pews, love within the realms of the Executive, the Legislative, and the Judiciary branches of the Government, averring, “We can disagree and still love one another.”
Meanwhile, Rev. Dr. Calvin A. Birch has said that times of challenge create opportunity to think big and act boldly, indicating that it is time for Liberians to return to their villages and start agricultural projects, stressing, “Monrovia is overpopulated; too many bikes, Kekes are everywhere, and as such, maybe, it is time to launch a national campaign that provides incentives for farmers.”
He added, “Liberia’s tropical forestation grows anything – coffee, cocoa, apples, grapes, strawberries, pineapples, oranges, cassava, as anything can grow in Liberia. Times of challenge create opportunities for growth and development, as we can choose to live or die.”
Earlier, President George M. Weah used the occasion to urge the religious community to always play a pivotal role in bringing about resolutions to some of the intractable crises, adding, “We urge you to continue to play that role, for it is often said that the church is the hope of the world.”
The Liberian leader added, “While our ethnic, religious or political diversity can serve to strengthen our democracy, some have attempted to exploit these divides for selfish political motives, as the church cannot sit by supinely or become a willing and complacent participant while these things happen.”
“Let me now call on the church to shine its light on the Liberian society, while we as Government play our part in the preservation of law and order, and we expect the clergy to use the “Power of the Pulpit” for the good of the country, as it is often said that Liberia is all we have. I could not agree more, that is why we depend on the religious community to bring about social cohesion and harmony,” President Weah averred.
