Indian Education Fair In Liberia Showcases Higher Education Opportunities

The “Study in India Education Fair” was organised in Monrovia on 19 February, bringing together representatives of leading Indian universities, prospective students, and dignitaries to explore higher education opportunities in India.
The event, organized by SAPE, India in partnership of Indian Embassy, saw the participation of seven prestigious Indian institutions and attracted a large number of Liberian students eager to learn about academic prospects in India.
The Deputy Minister of Education of Liberia, Amos Armah Fully, attended the event as a distinguished guest.
In his address, he emphasized the significance of international academic collaboration and expressed his appreciation for India’s ongoing support in capacity-building initiatives for Liberian students and professionals.
The Indian Ambassador to Liberia, Manoj Bihari Verma delivered the keynote speech, highlighting India’s commitment to expanding educational partnerships and promoting people-to-people ties.
He outlined the various scholarship opportunities available for Liberian students under the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) and the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) program.
“The Government of India remains committed to strengthening these bonds through long-term scholarships, including the India-Africa Friendship Scholarship Scheme”, he stated. “Additionally, we provide 70 fully funded ITEC training slots annually for Liberian professionals”.
One of the key highlights of the event was the mention of the Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IITM) Zanzibar, India’s first offshore IIT campus. The Ambassador informed attendees that IITM Zanzibar offers specialized programs in Data Science & Artificial Intelligence, as well as Ocean Structures.
He encouraged Liberian students to explore this unique opportunity, noting that scholarships are available for successful candidates.
As part of this initiative, IITM Zanzibar will be hosting a special webinar tomorrow at 2:00 PM Liberian time to provide further insights into their academic programs, admission process, and career prospects.
Students were urged to follow the official social media handles of the Indian Embassy (@IndiaInLiberia) for updates on scholarship opportunities as well as other updates.
Following the inaugural session, Deputy Minister Amos Armah Fully and the Ambassador toured the exhibition area, interacting with university representatives and students.
The participating institutions provided detailed information on various programs spanning fields such as engineering, business, information technology, and medicine.
Liberia is home to a vibrant and ambitious youth population eager to pursue quality education. Events like the “Study in India Education Fair” serve as a valuable platform to bridge educational aspirations with world-class academic opportunities available in India.
