In Nimba: Punishment Awaits Tribal Chief Caught In Political Campaign

The Chairperson of the traditional chief-elders council in Nimba, Robert Sehneah, disclosed that any tribal chief or elder that will engage in any form of political campaigning in the senatorial by-election will be punished.
Speaking via mobile phone in Nimba, the tribal chairperson revealed that some of the senatorial candidates are allegedly dishing out huge cash to some chiefs or elders to campaign for them in their control area.
According to the Elder Council Chairman Sehneah, the attention of the office of the chief and elder council has been drawn to the issue over alleged campaign messages from the offices of some zone chief or paramount chief offices in the county .
“Any tribal chief caught in the process will bear the full weight of governance violation,” Chairman Sehneah warned.
“We will punish anybody caught campaigning for any of the candidates vying for the Senate and punishment will be done in our meeting area that you all know,” the chief council chairperson reemphasized.
Expressing the caution via mobile phone, Chairman Sehneah further pointed out that chiefs and elders are not people who campaign for candidates but serve as advisors to create a peaceful environment for free and fair elections in the county .
Speaking on behalf of the residents of Bain- Garr district, Commissioner Amos Gbatu, threatened to turn over to the traditional elder council any chief who will engage in the campaign process in the district.
Since the opening of campaign by NEC , political activities have heated up with tribal politics taking center stage in the nine electoral districts involving representatives of various political parties and friends of the senatorial candidates respectively .
Speaking to the voice of Nimba morning breakfast news , senatorial candidate Mack Gblinwon , frowned at people preaching divisive politics; pointing fingers at Representative Musa Bility for being a mandingo..
Representative Musa Bility has openly vowed to support Mack Gblinwon, while majority of the lawmakers in Nimba including Senator Nyan Tuanyen are in the camp of Representative Samuel Kogar.
