In Nimba: LDEA Officers Flogged, 1 Wounded

Several officers of the Liberia drugs Enforcement Agency have been flogged thereby leading one to be seriously wounded in Nimba County.
LDEA officer Malison Gaylah, disclosed that 12 of the officers were flogged in the town of Lougbeyee by the town’s people in an act of mob justice.
According to officer Gaylah, one of the officer’s hand allegedly got broken while 11 others received bruises all over their bodies and are undergoing medical treatment at various health centers in the county.
“The officers went to rescue a man accused of rape who was under attack by the residents through mob violence; the people attacked the officers for turning the suspect over to the police,” Gaylah confirmed.
“The officers’ six motorbikes, cell phones, including personal belongings were all stolen in the process,” he disclosed.
“Some men from the town allegedly striped one of the female officers, Josephine Suah naked in an attempt to rape her but she escaped,” the DEA officer disclosed.
The police station in Sanniquellie was on August 12, 2024, overcrowded with some of the residents from the town who were allegedly involved in the flogging of the officers; apparently, intervening on behalf of those who were arrested and undergoing an investigation.
The LNP/CSD confirmed the incident and arrest of four suspected to have been in connection of the violent.
“Four has been charged and several are still at large,” the police asserted; naming a town chief and three Segal security guards who are also wanted for investigation,” CSD officer reveals.
“The suspects were charged with aggregated assault, criminal conspiracy, theft of property and criminal mischief and sent to court for prosecution,” police boasted.
