Guinean military officers assigned at the Ganta border have alleged that the Liberia Joint Security flogged and wounded two Guinean citizens who are currently undergoing medical treatment in the Republic of Guinea.
Speaking on behalf of the military from Guinea, the Guinean Army said it deeply frowns at the unprecedented incident caused by the Liberia Joint Security for flogging citizens for LD. 50, 00 as gate drop that is not constitutional, but only designed to fill their pockets.
A Guinean Military high power delegation including local authorities paid a special visit to Ganta and held a meeting with the Joint Security at the LIS conference room on February 7, 2023 where a five-hour meeting highlighted the security brutality of two Guineans, payment of medical bills and investigations into the alleged flogging, with GATE DROP among key issues discussed.
Independent report gathered by this paper has revealed that in February 2023, a motorcyclist from Guinea was allegedly flogged by a Customs Officer and a lady was also beaten by a female LIS officer.
“Security is there to protect citizens. Stop beating our citizens,” the Guinean Military warned the Joint Security in the county.
Customs Officer, Nohn Tensonnon, apologized to the Guinean Joint Security for the incident that led to their visitation while the Ganta City Mayor Amos Suah and Bain-Garr Commissioner Amos Gbatu appealed on behalf of the County Administration for the incident that led to the citizens getting wounded and are said to be in critical condition.
This is the third allegation linking state securities working with the Ministry of Justice assigned in Nimba County.
During the ending of 2022, LIS border patrol officers assigned at Gblorplay border disrupted the Census exercise with heavy shooting of automatic machine gun at that border town in Electoral District 3 in Nimba County.
At the beginning of January 2023, the LIS Robert Budy’s border patrol officer assigned at Loguatuo border allegedly flogged an Ivorian national with a gun and wounded him leaving him in a pool of blood.
When this paper contacted LIS Commander and Chairperson of the Joint Security regarding the visit of the Guinean Military and issues raised by the Guinea Joint Security; he remained mute up to press time.
