Shefflin United Sports Association Football Club (SUSA FC) has ascended to the top of the ongoing LFA-Margibi Subassociation Third Division 2024-2025 League table, following an unanticipated result on Wednesday, April 2nd.
The former back-to-back champions of the league achieved this feat after Upper End club, KA-CITY, failed to honor their fixture at the Unification Sports Pitch in Smell No Taste. This default awarded SUSA FC the full three points, catapulting them to first place in the standings with 28 points from 14 games.
Before this match, SUSA FC was sitting in second place, just behind Weintown United Football Club. However, the unexpected three points from the unplayed fixture propelled them into the top spot. The club has now accumulated 8 wins, 4 draws, and only 2 losses since the start of the season, marking a solid performance in both the first and second phases of the competition.
The current top position is notable, as it marks the first time since the opening rounds that SUSA FC has been at the summit of the league table. This achievement also signifies their first time in first place since the commencement of the second phase of the competition.
Meanwhile, the league witnessed other intriguing developments on the same day. In the Lower End of the table, JABU FC suffered a 1-0 home defeat at the hands of Prosper FC. This win has moved Prosper FC to second place with 27 points, just one point behind SUSA FC. The defeat also marks a pivotal shift in the standings as teams continue to battle for promotion.
At the same time, Champ Football Academy secured a 2-1 victory over FC Quincy, ending FC Quincy’s unbeaten streak in the second phase. FC Quincy’s impressive run was brought to an end in this tightly contested match, showing how fiercely the competition is unfolding in the league.
Elsewhere, at the Nancy B. Doe Sports Stadium in Kakata, One Goal Football Academy defeated Doris FC 2-1 to claim fourth place in the league. The match displayed remarkable effort from both teams, with One Goal FC’s victory solidifying their place in the upper half of the table.
The league on Thursday, April 3rd, took a brief break to resume action over the weekend with matches scheduled at both venues of the competition. The break provides an opportunity for teams to regroup and refine their strategies for the upcoming fixtures.
Weintown United Football Club, the reigning champions of the Margibi Subassociation Third Division, will continue to look for ways to defend their title as the league progresses into the later stages of the season.
As the competition heats up, football fans in Margibi County are eagerly anticipating more thrilling encounters in the days ahead, with the race for promotion and the championship title looking to intensify.
