Gbarpolu and Bomi Counties are the first celebrators of victory in the Group ‘C’ of the 2023/2024 National County Sports meet following their triumph over their nonbearing counterparts in the opening of the competition last Sunday in Monrovia.
The group is occupied by host Montserrado who lost to the girls from the Belle Forest from Gbarpolu County and Grand Cape Mount County that was resisted and heavily defeated by the Girls from Tubmanburg City who came from just a stone’s throw away.
The group opener played at the Antionette Tubman Stadium witnessed a clashing fixture between two visitors; Cape Mount and Bomi with high power strikes and defense of basic territories in the diamond at different rates during each of the five innings.
Bomi recorded five home-runs over Cape Mount’s two home-runs setting the score at 5-2 in the favor of Tubmanburg and its environs.
The result not favoring Grand Cape Mount County posed them to regroup and prepare for the next match which will be played in the midweek fixture against Gbarpolu.
In the last kickball match of day one at the examination hall of Liberian football the ATS, the host county team trilled to a 2-1 defeat from Gbarpolu.
Throughout the showpiece, both sides used defending tactics to the best of their advantages which led to a tight race and minimum score after the five innings.
Montserrado took a one home-run lead in the first two innings but lost grips in the last three innings by seeing Gbarpolu forcing their way through and reaching the third base on more than one occasions.
The umpire (referee) double signal took Gbarpolu from their early deficit to a celebration of their first three points in the group.
On Wednesday April 17, 2024 at the same venue Gbarpolu siting second on the group tally will push to confirm their qualification by taking on Grand Cape Mount County in game one while Montserrado will continue their search in game two against Bomi.
