Immigration Officer Arrested With Kush In Nimba

The Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) disclosed that it has arrested and detained Liberia’s Immigration Captain, Ansu Fofana in Nimba County.

The LDEA explained that Captain Fofana was arrested with two ounces of kush drugs in Ganta near the St. John’s River and that preliminary investigations are beginning to reveal that Capt. Fofana is among senior officers assigned in Nimba.

“Capt. Fofana was charged with unlicensed possession and sale of control drugs,” the chief of investigator of the LDEA’s sub office in Ganta disclosed.

The LDEA has also embarked on ghetto raid and has reportedly arrested over 30 drug users and abusers in Ganta and its surrounding undergoing an investigations and this is the second arrest and detention of an LIS officer in connection with kush in less than three months in the county.

During the beginning of February, 2024, another Immigration, Cyrus David, was arrested with kush in Tappita by the LDEA charged and sent to court for prosecution,

When this paper contacted LDEA’s General Commander, Abraham Payne, he confirmed the arrest and subsequent detention of Capt. Fofana.

“Arrest and detention of a state security in connection of kush is a signal that nobody is above the law and illegal possession of control drugs is a crime under the law,” Commander Payne explained.

When this paper contacted the office of the Detail Commander at Ganta main port of entry, they remained tightlipped on grounds that the commander was out of office.
