Imageliberia, YOUNETPO Concludes One-Day COVID-19 ‘Task Force’ Workshop

Two humanitarian Non-Governmental Organizations namely Imageliberia and the Youth Network for Positive Change (YOUNETPO) on Saturday concluded a one-day intensive training for 10 volunteers in Zeon Town in the ELWA Community
The training which was a joint partnership between Imageliberia and YOUNETPO saw the setting up of a COVID-19 Task Force mainly to help in tracking would-be visitors and strange movement of persons within the community.
The one-day event held under the theme, ‘Supporting Community Structures To Take Preventive Measures and Creating Awareness On COVID-19 in Montserrado County,’ witnessed all 10 volunteers going from door-to-door in the community to gather the data of households during these health emergencies.
The five females and five males who were recruited included Younger Kpannah, Doris M. Lewis, Alice Johnson, Armstrong D. Mcgil, Carlos Glay and Alphonso Saylee. Others were Maxic K. Bannie, Philip Gayflor, Otis Tehswen Otica Nyon and Rose Shasha.
According to the arrangement, they will work along with two supervisors who will coordinate the activities while for group one, Imageliberia Administrator, James Yarkpah, will serve as the Supervisor and coordinate three Blocks (A, B, C) while Imageliberia’s Program Officer Jestina Tokeh-Davis will serve as Supervisor for Group 2, comprising of Blocks D and E.
The Taskforce will also be allowed to report some of the difficulties to their supervisors if some community members are hesitant or failed to provide basic information on visitations made to them during this period
Meanwhile, YOUNETPO’s Executive Director Leo Teah as well as Imageliberia’s Executive Director Edwin G. Wandah in separate remarks called on the community members not to panic as according to them, the government in collaboration with its international partners are working extremely hard to find an amicable solution to curtailing the pandemic.
Mr. Teah further reminded the volunteers to educate residents on the benefits they will receive if they follow the safety rules while Mr. Wandah wants the cooperation of the community in providing the basic information which is important but stated that the community must be receptive and accord the volunteers all privilege.
