“I’m Prepared To Serve Humanity” … Governor Urey Asserts

The newly elected first Liberian Governor of Lions Clubs International District 403A2, Clemenceau B. Urey says he is prepared to serve humanity.
He said that the principle mission and vision of the Lions Clubs is to render humanitarian services to people in need.
In an exclusive interview with the media over the weekend at his residence in Paynesville, Governor Urey disclosed that he has come to the position with passion and huge experience that will enhance his functions saying that he was gratified and indeed proud that Liberia has assumed the leadership of District 403A2.
According to him, the International president, Fabricio Oliveira, mandated each and every elected governor to make an impressive mark and leave indelible footprints and so he has vowed to perform to the expectations of the entire District 403A2 membership based on his over four decades of working experience as a Lion.
Mr. Urey has served as treasurer of the Greater Monrovia Lions Club, president, first and second Vice president, Zone Chairman as well as the first Liberian Region Chairman amongst other positions.
He pointed out that the Lions Clubs of Liberia contributed towards the establishment of the Eye Center at the John F. Kennedy (JFK) Memorial Hospital, another Eye Center at the Jackson F. Doe Hospital in Tappita, Nimba County as well as in Grand Bassa County and Lions have been providing other services over the years.
“We provide services to the blind and also test the eyes of the children for poor vision as it impedes their learning process,” he stated.
He furthered indicated that the Lions Clubs have been providing services aimed at Fighting Against Hunger, Illiteracy including Climate Change, Diabetes along with Childhood Cancer, a deadly disease, noting that each district was mandated to select two focused projects.
Governor Urey continued that the 2024/2025 focused projects for District 403A2 is ‘Fight Against Hunger, Climate Change and the Environment’ asserting they will be visiting impoverished slum communities and distribute food to the inhabitants and other uncooked food stuffs that the recipients can prepared for themselves.
“We will advocate on behalf of the less fortunate in the society and encourage them to engage in food production, provide humanitarian services as our motto states,” where there is a need, there is a Lion” but maintained that other projects will not be downplayed,” he stressed.
As the Lion Governor, he heads District 403A2 that comprises of Liberia, Sierra Leone including Togo and Ivory Coast; he added that, his longtime services to Lions Clubs was rewarding because when his name was announced as a participant in the election, there wasn’t any disagreement and so he enjoyed a smooth sailing with him being elected as the Governor of District 403A2.
He then urged all the members to continue working together because doing so leads to them achieving immense success and that they should always be ready to serve humanity recounting that he grew up as a poor boy being deprived of the necessities of life but people helped him along the way.
So when he became economically potent, he then provided scholarships to deserving students as a means of empowerment that changed their lives.
Lion Clemenceau B. Urey who was confirmed by the International president Oliveira in Melbourne, Australia on June 21-25, 2024 returned to the country over the weekend via the Robert International Airport amidst huge jubilation amongst members of the 10 Lions Clubs of Liberia, friends and sympathizers as the sensational All Stars Cultural Troupe exceptionally performed to the delight of everyone.
