“I’m Living In Fear” -Auditor Alarms Following Attempts On His Life

A staff of the General Auditing Commission (GAC), Henry Kolleh, has alarmed over countless attempts on his life by unknown persons, something he said has resulted to him living in absolute fear.

Auditor Kolleh told the INQUIRER in an exclusive interview that since the completion of series of high-profiled audits, of which he spearheaded, he has been receiving threatening calls including attempt by an unknown vehicle to take his life.

Though the GAC’s staff could not recall who may have instigated the planned attacks on his life, the young auditor disclosed that he suspects that the repeated attacks on him is as a result of series of sensitive audits conducted that subsequently implicated/indicted several high-profiled personalities in the Liberian society.

The GAC staff named attacks on his home, his vehicle, couple with threatening calls from unknown persons as scaring. He stressed that the repeated threats and unprecedented attempts have caused him to live in absolute fear for his life.

“I have only been a professional auditor who has refused to compromise my profession and my country. For anyone to think that I am a compromise is mistaken, because I will hold on to the values of my profession,” Kolleh narrated.

“Already, some have been preventing the audit reports from surfacing in the public while outsiders have been trying to induce me to compromise. But I have vehemently rejected those attempts, and have vowed to maintain my independence and uphold the values of professional audit,” Kolleh maintained.

According to Kolleh, since he decided to remain unbending and uncompromising with audit reports he worked on, attacks on his life have been persistent, severed and threatening.

When asked whether a case has been filed with the Liberia National Police (LNP) considering the growing threats on his life, He said yes, but quickly admitted that nothing substantial has been done by the state’s security.

The GAC auditor also complained that he has not been able to link up with family members, and that, he could not even visit his father who according to him, was critically ill and needed medical attention.

According to Auditor Kolleh, he had to flee his home to an undisclosed destiny, along with his fiancee and daughter, due to the second and most scaring attack that resulted to him being severely beaten, at which time he sustained bodily wounds.

“My office computer was even taken away by the unidentified attackers who were wearing face’s masks,” he disclosed. “Being a person with underlining health condition, my movement has been restricted. I no longer move freely, especially to see my doctor and get my medication on time as a result of fear that the attackers might come after me again.” “This has caused me and my family a serious trauma because I am even afraid to be seen in the public. I have also avoided my workplace on grounds that those assassins might appear again and manhandle me,” Kolleh explained in a frightened mood.
