President George Weah has cautioned young people to consider education as an essential path in their life time; describing himself as a living example of what education does.
Speaking when the Liberian leader dedicated the SMART-Liberia Hub, an educational initiative organized by Liberian youths aimed at providing skill trainings for Liberians in Sinkor yesterday, he asserted that without education it is very difficult for one to achieve.
“I am a living example of what education is. I spent 27 years of my life being an entertainer; but later discovered that after the entire time of entertainment, the best place to go was back in the classroom,” the Liberian explained.
“So, I know education is important and I am encouraging everyone; every Liberian, that education delayed should not be education denied,” he said; indicating that education is the essence of life.
President Weah who led an array of government officials at the official dedication of the SMART-Liberia said, he was impressed to witness young Liberians who had acquired education to embark upon an initiative to give back to other young people to propel their careers in life.
“I am encouraging (you) young people to see young man like Marvin R. Tarawally who embarked upon this initiative to encourage other young people to go to school so that they can follow their career paths,” President Weah pointed out.
President Weah also used the medium to encourage parents not to limit themselves stating that they must not relent to return to school and as well encourage their children to remain in school.
“I encourage parents not to limit their children because we were told to maximize our actual potentials; so that means, you can be in the market selling and still go to school,” he asserted.
He assured the youth group that his administration will support the initiative to ensure SMART-Liberia reaches it goal adding, “Our goal is to help this initiative to achieve its full potential. I will be there with you so that we together can reach your goal.”
Also speaking at the program, Youths Sports Minister, Zeogar Wilson, expressed delight and assured that his ministry supports the initiative expressing, “We are delighted and gratified to see young people together to solve this change pathway.”
Mr. Wilson said the initiative is in line with Pro-POOR pillar one that talks about youth developments.
