“I Will Pave Red Hill Road” …Bishop Donyen Assures

A Legislative aspirant of District 2 in Montserrado County, Bishop Nimely Jarbokly Donyen, assures residents of the City View Communities in Red Hill that he will pave the road that passes on top of the hill to other communities.

He said that the road has been a nightmare for them over the years, especially during the rainy season, saying by the grace of God, when he emerges victorious in the October 10 General and Presidential Elections, they will not encounter any more difficulty.

Bishop Donyen spoke over the weekend, on the road in the Red Hill, City view Community, having mobilized several community youths who were carrying out some work on the road that has, of recent, been posing serious challenges to the road users, as a result of the eroded mud that has piled down the rocky hill.

“We do not have the money to pave all the community roads, but I will pave the road leading to my residence because national and international guests will be coming there for discussions relative to the developmental needs of the district,” he promised.

Bishop Donyen, who funded the rehabilitation of several community roads in the district two years ago, using earth moving equipment, reiterated that District 2 will have its own caterpillar that will be working on every road in the district, so as to put an end to challenges they have been facing every year.

He then lauded the youths for providing their services as they manually rehabilitate the road, and the community chairman, as well as elders, for accepting his idea, stating that community initiative is the panacea to the implementation of development projects in any community.

He however envisaged that the next six years will be prosperous when it comes to the realization of developmental projects, adding that what he referred to as “a horrible six year period” is about end.”

The Chairperson of the Hill Red Community, James W. Volar, explained that the road has been impassable for nearly a month now as vehicles, tricycles, and motorcycles could not ascend the hill because the erosion has piled the mud down the hill. As a result, people have been parking their vehicles in Wein Town, on the paved Pipeline Road that the Red Hill Road is connected to, and walking up the hill to their various destinations.

He disclosed that even motorcyclists were stopping down the hill to carry the passengers’ loads up the hill before continuing the journey, and that has been humiliating for them.

Chairman Volar praised the aspirant for his aid, as usual, and admitted that they are realizing the desired result since the process begun, and as such, he expressed appreciation to the youths for their cooperation.

For their part, Cyrus T. Burwlue, Chairman of the Youth, Red Hill Community, and Alexander Kermue, Chairman of the Planning & Program, appreciated the District 2 of Montserrado County Aspirant for his swift intervention, indicating that the road is indeed important because it has a short route to Jacob Town, Lone Star and other areas.

According to them, engineers advised that they do the work manually, as machines would further worsen the situation, so they are opening the drainages and putting crushed rocks on the road.

“Since we started working, cars and motorcycles are moving on the road; even the water truck went up the hill today to sell water in the communities,” they added.
