“I Rest My Case”

By Nyema Nma, Jr.
Today, we at the INQUIRER Newspaper will “REST OUR CASE”; living with the demise of our boss, Mr. Philip N. Wesseh.
GINA, upon hearing of your death, we cried, we screamed, we shook and a part of us died. We are still in shock for we were inseparable. You were the closest in our career as journalists; moreover, working under your supervision. You were a mentor, a friend and a father. But “WE REST OUR CASE.”
We will idolize you. You helped us accomplish anything we wanted to. We made research, followed up stories, conducted interviews, corroborated the fact before reaching you. Anyone who fell short of these simple principles, knew that you would not “REST YOUR CASE.”
You were the best writer we ever knew. We always brought NONSENSE to you. But you took out the NONE and kept the SENSE.
We will not stop sobbing. We will yell, we will cry; yet we will sing and smile again and hear you say softly, “I REST MY CASE.”
