The County Education Officer (CEO), Moses Dologbaye, says he remains the CEO assigned to the Nimba Schools System until the Supreme Court hands down a verdict on the alleged illegal transfer of the Ministry of Education (MOE)staff from the county.
Speaking via mobile phone, CEO Dologbaye disclosed that some aggrieved District Education Officers (DEOs) and County Education Officers (CEOs) filed a lawsuit against the MOE authorities’ alleged illegal transfer coupled with a witch hunt of educators.
According to the aggrieved CEO, the Supreme Court halted the exercise and mandated the Ministry of Education that those affected remain in their position until the court decides the case.
“What I do know is that I remain the CEO in Nimba; besides me, nobody is appointed CEO here,” Dologbaye protested.
At the beginning of December 2024, the Ministry of Education relieved about 10 district education officers including CEO Dologbaye in Nimba with immediate effect.
The Ministry of Education released CEO Dologbaye’s transfer to Webbo Teachers Training Institute in River Gee as a ‘C’ certificate trainer and replaced him with Francis Legay, respectively.
Of the 10 DEOs released eight were transferred to the southeastern counties as district education officers without a resettlement package, while two were abruptly retired.
Since the immediate release coupled with the transfer of the education school supervisors, school supervision within the Nimba schools system has come to a standstill.
When this paper contacted the newly appointed CEO Francis Legay, said he was appointed CEO of the Nimba Schools System and is waiting for the outgoing CEO Dologbaye to officially turn over the office along with the MOE’s assigned vehicle.
When contacted, the Nimba schools board chairperson Luogon Lah, said he wants the Ministry of Education to audit the outgoing CEO Dologbaye before leaving office.
