House Grants Gbarpolu County Community College  Status

The House of Representatives has unanimously voted for the establishment of a Community College in Gbarpolu County.

A statement issued by the Press Bureau of the august body said, plenary took the decision Tuesday, February 28, 2023 following a report from its joint Committee on Education, Ways, Means, Finance and Development Planning and Judiciary.

“Honorable Speaker and fellow Colleagues, having had series of meetings, consultations, public hearings and substantive engagements with relevant stakeholders on the Act, Members of the Joint Committee agreed in principle that there is a need for the establishment of a community college in Gbarpolu County; most especially where there is no college of such,” the joint committee added.

The committee said it is of the strongest opinion that plenary will endorse the report, thereby giving the people of Gbarpolu County the opportunity to have their own community college.

The acceptance of this report and subsequent passage of this Community College Bill will create opportunities to promote empowerment, development, and interest of the youthful population of Gbarpolu as well as Liberia at large.

Meanwhile, the instrument is pending concurrence by the Liberian Senate.
