Harbel College Students
Join Lecturers’ Protest

The students of the Harbel Community College have begun an indefinite protest in solidarity with their striking lecturers.
It is almost two weeks since the lecturers dropped their tools demanding improved conditions at the institution.
Early this week, the students blocked entrances leading to the college’s campus by burning tires thereby preventing anyone including the college employees as well as visitors from entering.
According to the report, the students’ agitation is for the return of their teachers because they are the direct victims of the ongoing strike action which has paralyzed normal academic activities at the college.
The students are calling for the Education Ministry and National Commission on Higher Education in particular as well as others in general intervention because Harbel now is the only tertiary institution that is lagging behind in its academic programming.
The faculty led by Tuan Saytue Sneh, among many things, vowed not to return to classes if their demands are not met by the school’s administration and its Board of Directors.
