GVL Continues Educational Support In Southeast

Golden Veroleum Liberia Inc. (GVL) has embarked on the second phase of its Educational Support program (GES) for academic year 2021/2022 in Sinoe and Grand Kru Counties.
The GES is a 3-year plan designed to support the educational needs of employees’ dependents and other pupils from the surrounding communities.
This year, the company donated teaching and learning materials and furniture to over 30 schools and renovated several others in its operational areas in Sinoe and Grand Kru Counties.
More than 140 volunteer teachers from selected schools in both counties will also receive stipends.
In separate presentations in the two counties, GVL sustainability managers Willie Chea and Roosevelt Wleh said the donation is in fulfillment of the company’s commitment to support education in Liberia and the Company’s way of buttressing government’s efforts to strengthen the school system in Liberia.
The duo urged the schools’ authorities to properly manage the materials provided and use them for the benefit of the students.
Sinoe County Education Officer, Alphonso S. Kanbor, lauded GVL for the donation and promised that the items received will be properly used to benefit the students as intended.
He said they have always recognized GVL as a major contributor to the school system of Liberia and that this is not the first assistance and contribution the company has rendered to the counties.
In 2020, GVL also donated learning materials, furniture, stipends for volunteer teachers and the renovation of existing schools and has also invested more than USD290,000 under the GES program in 2020 while over US$ 220,000 is being invested this year.
