A group under the canopy, Bong Professional Network (BON-PRO) has launched a 21-day voter registration awareness campaign in the county.
The Bong Professional Network is a newly established non-governmental professional organization organized by sons and daughters of the county with the same ideology of moving their county forward through programs and activities that will help in contributing meaningfully to the developmental agenda of Bong County.
Speaking at the launching ceremony in Gbarnga, Bong County over the weekend, the chairperson of the BON-PRO, Kweshie Tetteh, said the awareness campaign is aimed at enhancing the political participation of all eligible voters as well as encouraging all citizens that have attained the age of 18 years and above to turn out to register in the ongoing voters registration exercise.
The Bong Professional Network Chairperson further revealed that the awareness campaign is intended to buttress the sensitization drive of mass community participation in the voters registration exercise.
The awareness campaign launch began with a parade under the theme: “Your vote is your voice, authority and future.”
The chairperson of the Bong County Council, Aaron Sackie-Fenlah lauded the Bong Professional Network for the initiative.
He said the awareness is important to the voter’s registration process and that all Liberians should see this as their constitutional right and get involved in it in order to make their voices heard through the electoral processes.
He encouraged community members, traditional leaders, and other youth groups to come out in order to help create awareness that will help stop the issues of people registering twice.
Mr. Sackie-Fenlah told the gathering that the issue of election is everyone’s business that is why everyone should be involved in the registration process.
He further admonished members of the BON-PRO to move all across the county so that everyone gets access to the basic information they need during the registration period and the time of voting.
