“Gratitude Leads To Greater Opportunities” …NPA Boss Tells Liberians

By Laurina B. Lormia
The Managing Director of the National Port Authority (NPA), Sekou Dukuly, has urged Liberians to prioritize gratitude.
He emphasized that if more people showed gratitude, more opportunities will arise for individuals and society as a whole will become a better place.
On July 28, Mr. Dukuly spoke at the closing ceremony of the Alieu Swaray English & Arabic Public School in Monrovia emphasizing the importance of appreciating what one has and discussed the positive ripple effects that gratitude can create within a community.
According to him, if everyone exhibits an attitude of gratitude, greater things are bound to happen for Liberia, and the society will become a better place for all.
He added that, many accomplished and busy individuals had gathered to honor the students for this significant milestone in their lives.
He reminded the students that this achievement is just one phase in their academic and professional journey, urging them to value it highly, as it is not the end.
“It’s essential to continue making your parents, guardians and sponsors proud. Strive to achieve success in your studies and avoid repeating classes by advancing diligently,” he stated.
“He extended his thanks and appreciation to President Joseph Boakai for giving him the opportunity to serve as the Managing Director at the National Port Authority of Liberia.”
“It has been over 25 years since someone from the Muslim/Mandingo background served in this capacity. The last person to do so was T. FasuKelleh, who hailed from Tusu and Lavalzu in Lofa County and served as Managing Director of the NPA in 1998,” he narrated.
He congratulated the students for their perseverance and dedication, which has made both their parents and teachers proud. He also extended his heartfelt thanks to the dedicated parents who have ensured their children remain in school despite the challenges. He however appreciated the principal and teaching staff for their unwavering guidance, which has played a crucial role in steering the children toward success.
Meanwhile, the Principal, Sekou Johnson, extended heartfelt thanks to Mr. Dukuly for his generous US$5,000 donation and his considerate support for the students, teachers, and the entire school community.
“Prior to this donation, the school had only four classrooms. With Dukuly’s help, an additional five classrooms have been built, over 25 staff members have been compensated, and every student can now attend school at no cost,” he concluded.
