Grace Kpan Resurfaces; Agrees To Be Moniba’s Running Mate

Liberian National Union (LINU’s) standard-bearer, Harry Fomba Moniba, Jr. has named Montserrado County’s former Superintendent, Grace Tete Kpan, as his running mate in the October polls.
Unveiling her during an elaborate ceremony on June 30 at the party’s headquarters in Monrovia, he said it is his belief that his choice for a female running mate is to encourage gender balance politically and to fight against corruption as well as drug abuse.
Moniba, stated among many thing, that women are clean and honest people when in leadership whether in the private and public sector; which attributes Kpan possesses and is prepared to work with her when elected President in the pending polls.
Kpan said her choosing was not a surprise because her public records speak volume during her tenure as Montserrado County’s Superintendent during the regime of President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf from 2006 to 2017.
She stated that her unweaving stance as campaign against corruption and societal ills remain unbending and cardinal to the growth and development of post-war Liberia.
It can be recalled in 2013, the then Superintendent, and Montserrado County’s Electoral District 16 Representative, Edward Forh were in words of war over a recording that exposes both officials at the time about development fund distribution.
Kpan and Forh engaged in a serious fight over the management and usage of development funds allotted for Montserrado County.
There were verbal attacks on each other over the usage of County Development Funds (CDF) as the then Chairperson of the Montserrado County’s Legislative Caucus, Forh denied ever soliciting money from the then suspended Montserrado County Superintendent.
Forh said the total sum of US$ 2.5 million was divided equally amongst the 17 districts, giving each district US$151,900 but stated further that one who comes with probity must come with clean hands.
Kpan tried endlessly acting smart, as others would say, but the lawmakers thwarted every attempt by her to keep scoring on them, as she was held liable on four counts of administrative and financial flaws and had to be sent to jail.
Before her ascendency to the post of Superintendent of Montserrado County was a vocal campaigner against societal ills and workers well-being but was defeated by the rage-faced lawmakers when questioned on the justification of the alleged unauthorized expenditure of monies put at her disposal at the time.vironment.
