The National Identification Registry (NIR) says it is designing a strategy to begin the production of smart National Identification Cards in the country.
Speaking in an interview recently, the NIR Board Chairperson, Francis S. Nyumalin, disclosed that he is expected to travel to Ghana to discuss with the Intelligent Card Production Systems Limited aimed at exploring potential business opportunities for the NIR in Liberia.
The Internal Affairs Minister also added that his visit will seek opportunities particularly in the production of Smart National Identification Cards for both citizens and non-citizens of the country.
He revealed that during his visit he will tour the factory demo of Intelligent Card Production Systems Limited to provide him with valuable insights into the company’s operations and capabilities in producing smart identification cards.
The collaboration with Intelligent Card Production Systems Limited could potentially lead to the implementation of advanced technology in the production of national identification cards, ensuring efficiency and security for all cardholders.
The visit of Minister Nyumalin to Ghana will highlight government’s commitment to improving identification systems and services for its citizens.
On August 1, 2011, former President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf signed into law the National Identification Registry Act which recognizes that a reliable and effective system for identifying people in Liberia is essential for the rule of law and for social planning, including the efficient delivery of services.
