“Gov’t Spent US$3B In Liberia” -Says US Amb. Toner

The United States Ambassador, Mark Toner,says his government has spent US$ 3 billion to strengthen the democracy that led to three successful transitions of government in the country.
Ambassador Toner said the US government is committed in working in partnership with the Government of Liberia in strengthening economic developments in the country.
According to Ambassador Toner, his diplomatic visit in Nimba was designed to tour outside of Monrovia to see the level of developments in rural Liberia and in Nimba County.
Toner, upon arrival in Sanniquellie held meeting with Superintendent Kou Gono and expressed, “I want to take this time to thank the people of Nimba for the warm welcome”
“Nimba is rich with natural resources that are contributing to the developments of the country, From here, I will be going to Yekepa to see the level of developments there and also meet with AML,” US Ambassador Toner stated.
“The United States’ Government focus now is on economic developments, peace and security, rule of law, that will boost economic developments,” Amb. Toner said.
Speaking on behalf of the chief and elder council, the head of the traditional council, Robert Sehneah, thanked the United States ambassador for visiting the county and for the financial support to the Government of Liberia over the years.
“According to our culture, we gave you this kola nut to tell you that you and your entourage are most welcome in Nimba,” the chief elder expressed.
Superintendent Kou Gono thanked the United States ambassador for the visit, stressing, “We want to take this time to officially welcome you and your entourage in the county.”
Superintendent Gono pointed out further, “We want to take this time on behalf of the President to thank the United States Government for the level of support to the Government and people of Liberia; we remain committed in working with the U.S. Government aimed at fostering developments in this country.”
