The District education Officer (DEO) Hannah Tamba, has reported that a teacher at the Duo Elementary School in electoral district # 8 in Nimba County has gone missing.
According to the DEO, Teacher Prince Zuogbay was taken to court by one of the teacher on accusation of stealing some of the World Food Program’s supply for the school in Duo Town while off-loading was being carried out at the School’s premises.
She explained that 35 bags of 25 Kg rice and 15 gallons of vegetable oil were discovered missing from the school’s warehouse but only five bags of rice were later discovered in the market building the next day. DEO Tamba said the matter has turned over to the court by one of the teacher who had been earlier accused of stealing the WFP food intended for the School.
DEO Tamba had been accusing the Magistrate, Victoria Gbalazeh, of allegedly receiving about LD 70, 000 from three of the accused teachers as bond fees and was said to have been keeping teacher Zuogbay allegedly on handcuff at her house under her custody until he allegedly went missing.
Magistrate Gbalazeh explained how Teacher Zuogbay was being processed for transfer to Sanniquellie when he escape from the country.
The WFP’s recent food distribution to school-going kids in Nimba was marked with scandals and corruptions where many of the administrators as well as teachers allegedly diverted the food to their personal use by leaving huge numbers of the public school students out of the exercise.
Several public school administrators and teachers were allegedly accused of selling the food on community Radio Station in Saclepea by the DEO Lydon Martor and his colleague DEO Tamba.
Teachers were also accused in Bain- Garr education district one of allegedly selling the WFP supply food to marketers during the food distribution.
When contacted, the County Education Officer, Moses Dologbay, confirmed incident that government school teacher, Zuogbay, is actually missing as people from his hometown in Zahn Banla, electoral district # 8 are in search of him including the police.
