The government of Liberia through the Ministry of Education, and the Ministry of Health in collaboration with partners has launched school-based vaccination including Pediatric Pfizer Vaccines in Gbarnga, Bong County.
The launching ceremony of the school-based vaccination is inclusive of the Pediatric PFIZER vaccine that will be administered to students on campus between the ages of five to eleven years.
Speaking during the launching ceremony of the School-Based Vaccination in Gbarnga, Bong County over the weekend, Liberia’s Health Minister Dr. Wilhelmina Jallah urged parents to allow their children to come out and take their Pfizer Vaccine.
She said the vaccinators will be at the various school campuses to vaccinate the students stressing that it will be prudent for parents to fully cooperate by encouraging their children between the ages of five to eleven years to take the vaccine.
Minister Jallah said it is the parents who will make it possible for the children to take their vaccine and further appealed to parents to sign the consent form that will allow their children to be vaccinated at the various facilities in the county.
The Liberian Health Minister said the School-Based Vaccination process will be done across the country, disclosing that every child in a community and school across the country will receive his or her vaccine.
She then thanked the Ministry of Health partners for making the Pfizer Vaccine available to Liberia.
According to her, COVID-19 is not over yet emphasizing that it is vital for Liberians to keep taking protective and preventative measures.
Also speaking at the launching ceremony of the school-based vaccination campaign, Liberia’s Education Minister Professor Ansu Sonii encouraged parents to continue sending their children to school.
Professor Ansu Sonii at the same time said the vaccination of the students is consistent with the Liberian Government’s and its partners’ vision to achieve a high-optic and safe vaccine.
Minister Sonii said the Ministry of Health in collaboration with partners WHO, UNICEF and USAID has developed a strategy to support the implementation of the pediatric Pfizer vaccination in Liberia.
Meanwhile, Bong County Superintendent, Esther Walker lauded the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Education, and partners for the launching of the Pfizer Vaccination for children between ages 5 to 11 years in the county.
Superintendent Walker added that it’s essential to have the children vaccinated against COVID-19 in the county.
The Bong County Superintendent revealed that the vaccination process of the children will play a key role in the fight against COVID-19 in the county.
The tough-talking Superintendent at the same time vowed to vigorously launch massive awareness on the vaccination to ensure that children in all parts of Bong County are vaccinated.
Moreover, Superintendent Walker wants parents to take their children to the nearby health facility to be vaccinated if they must be free from the COVID-19 virus.
