The Government of Liberia has showered praises on the United States of America House of Representatives for passing the resolution to be fully represented at the country’s historical celebration of the Bicentennial.
According to the Liberian government, the U.S. resolution to form a part of its celebration is a timely one that has again renewed the bonds and historical tide between the two countries.
Speaking at a special press conference at the Ministry of Information yesterday, Minister Legendhood Rennie said that the country has over the years had consolidated with the global community to have all it takes in serving her citizens which is healing a result through the American people’s recognition of special activities to take place in Liberia.
“The people of the United States through their representatives had spoken and had renewed their commitment to the long standing and historical tides that both countries share,” he said.
He further said, “We, as a government are very, very delighted for the demonstrable and enviable stance of friendship and humanizing bond with the people of America.”
The Minister added that the founding of Liberia goes far back emanating from the United States of America and will not just only bring about a special bond link and friendship between the two countries but will also reaffirm the common values that both countries hold together.
“It is not only about the connection between both countries, but the resolution is reaffirming values we share in the fight for democracy, human rights and the rule of law,” he noted.
“The commitment is to help and work with Liberia for the economic advancement, social development and democratic consolidation of our country as we move over the next coming years,” Min. Rennie maintained.
The Minister of Information at the same time announced that President George Weah will be officially moving his office from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to the Grounds of the Executive Mansion on February 14, 2022.
According to him, the Liberian leader will only run the day to day affairs of his executive functions at the Mansion while the rest of the renovation process continues.
He however made it clear that the home of the President will not move to the Mansion because there is still renovation ongoing at some major floors that prevents him from sleeping in the unfinished structure.
