The government’s Household Food Support Program (COHFSP) over the weekend continued its food distribution process in Montserrado County and its environs with over 4, 000 inhabitants benefitting from the gesture.
This is the 5th distribution carried out within Montserrado County and the beneficiaries are from communities such as Buzzy Quarters on Capitol Hill, the former Maternity Center on the Bye-pass, the Rocksprings Valley and Capitol Hill community.
The Friday, July 3, food distribution process also witnessed over 50 orphanages benefiting from the food basket which included rice, beans and a gallon of cooking oil, 25kg bags of rice, gallon of cooking oil and 28 cups of beans.
Speaking to a team of reporters during the distribution process, the COHFSP Committee Chair, Wilson Tarpeh said that the distribution would have affected 10 localities ranging from orphanages, schools and old folks homes, among others and that their visits in the Buzzy Quarters community and other communities were in continuation of the distribution process.
Minister Tarpeh further stated that the initiative will be a health-driven process in order for the team to reach to communities that are hardly hit by the pandemic and also promised other residents whose names were not captured on communities chairperson’s listing.
Some of the beneficiaries lauded the government for the food given them and expressed that though it is long overdue, they were very excited to receive food from their government during this critical time.
