The soccer squad of GSA Road Old-timers Sorts Association (GOSA) were over the weekend crowned champions of a football tournament organized by the association in honor of their falling Technical Director, D. Bestman Sumo, whose demise the officials of GOSA described as a setback not only for members of the association football team but for the residents of the GSA Road communities.
The tournament was held at the Duport Road Children Play Ground and out of the three teams that participated in the tournament, GOSA were crowned champions after scoring one win and one draw against Caucus FC and Kissi Camp Old-timers Sports Association out of the two games played by each of the three teams.
In the tournament opening game, Caucus FC settled to a goalless draw with Kissi Old-timers and drew 1–1 with GOSA while the same GOSA dumped Kissi Old-timers 2–0.
AlhonsoKorto of the winning side GOSA received US$20 as the highest goal scorer and most valuable player of the tournament.
An officials of GOSA, Moses Z. Jackson, voiced that their association just ended tournament is projected to be an annual event taking place on the last Sunday of March every annually.
Jackson, who spoke on behalf of GOSA, described the late Technical Director’s contributions to residents of the GSA Road Old communities as very outstanding and therefore, officials and residents of that community will always remember him and asked God to forgive him.
“First I’m please to say thank you to our late brother, Mr. D. Bestman Sumo for the numerous contributions he made for the growth of GOSA and residents of the GSA Road Old communities and I want we as members of GOSA and residents of our communities follow the good examples of our falling brother Mr. Bestman,” Said Jackson.
Jackson thanked officials of Caucus FC and Kissi Old-timers for their participation in the tournament and hoped to include more teams in their next tournament to come.
