Good Samaritan International, Gardnersville Chapter, donated toiletries, baby diapers, and other essential items to patients at the Kebbah Health Center in Montserrado County over the weekend.
The initiative aims to support the local health system, which struggles to meet the needs of all citizens.
The president of the Good Samaritan International, Agnes W. Holder, delivered the items to health authorities at the center.
She emphasized the critical role of community support in strengthening healthcare services, stating, “The Government of Liberia cannot meet the healthcare needs of all citizens alone. It requires levelheaded people to buttress the government’s efforts in making our health system vibrant.”
Highlighting the organization’s ongoing commitment to humanitarian assistance, Madam Holder explained the motivation behind the donation. “Good Samaritan has always been here to provide help to those in need. We try in our own little ways to bring relief to our Liberian brothers and sisters as a demonstration of our concerns and love.”
She further elaborated, “We are neither rich nor poor; we are simply a group of individuals who can afford to make a difference in the lives of others.”
Madam Holder urged fellow citizens to channel their energies and resources toward humanitarian efforts, underscoring the importance of collective action in improving society.
Receiving the donation on behalf of Kebbah Health Center, Dr. Ruby S. Weeks, the Medical Director, expressed her gratitude for the initiative.
She assured the community that the donated items would be utilized as intended, stating, “The patients in the facility will be the ones to use these items. I can ensure you that.”
Dr. Weeks also called on other humanitarian organizations to consider supporting the Kebbah Health Center in their future plans, emphasizing the ongoing need for resources in the healthcare sector.
The donation’s event highlighted the importance of community involvement in supporting health services, especially in a country where many public health facilities face resource shortages.
