The National Elections Commission (NEC) is calling on all registered voters to utilize the Commission’s Voter Check Platform to verify his/her personal voting information.
With just 18 more days to the October 10 Presidential and Legislative Elections, the platform is intended to help registered voters who never had the time to participate in the exhibition process, as well as ensure a fair democratic system.
According to NEC Chairperson, Davidetta Browne-Lansanah’s instruction, “All registered voters across the country who wish to access their information are encouraged to visit the platform, enter their Voter ID number, year of birth, and view their information.”
Addressing a news conference Thursday, September 21, 2023 at NEC’s headquarters in Monrovia, Madam Browne-Lansanah emphasized the importance of every eligible citizen participating in the verification process.
The NEC boss also noted that by visiting the Voter Check Platform, voters can conveniently access their voter information and ascertain its correctness, revealing that the user-friendly online platform allows individuals to confirm their registration status, among others.
Commenting on other elections matters, Madam Browne-Lansanah also stated that the Commission, as has been done in the past elections, during which time the NEC made available electronic copies of the Final Registration Roll (FRR) to political parties, independent candidates, and other stakeholders, will make the FRR for 2023 general elections available to all concerned.
This, she stressed, that the NEC Technical team is working to have the Biometric Voter Roll (BVR) placed in a secured format, and same will be made available to all stakeholders as soon as possible.
According to her, the Commission also has a team of personnel working 24 hours on three shifts, to ensure that the FRR is printed and pasted at each of the 2,080 Voting Precincts, prior to Election Day in October.
She added that the Commission will, beginning Tuesday, September 26, 2023, at 11:00 am, commence a weekly press briefing on the status of the electoral process, aimed at keeping the public abreast of the preparatory activities to the 2023 General Elections.
Meanwhile, the NEC Boss further disclosed that even though almost all of the materials for the conduct of the elections are in the country, the Government, through the Ministry of Finance, is yet to make available the remaining funds to the NEC for the smooth conduct of the elections.
Madam Browne-Lansanah then used the time to call on the Ministry of Finance to release the balance of funds to the NEC, so as to enable the Commission adequately prepare for the elections slated for October 10 of this year.
