Global Pharma Football Club has reintroduced competitive football to the Borough of New Kru Town after many years by arranging the D. Tweh Sports Pitch as the team home’s stadium in all competitions, this and the following season.
The Borough of the Kru Town came alive with a football blast last week during the first leg of the Liberia Football Association Orange Cup quarterfinal against Mighty Barrolle, in a one-all draw after fulltime regularities.
Residents of the Kru Town trooped to the field, having it jam-packed to its total capacity and beyond, while others were spotted climbing elevated structures and trees to have an eye on the opening national league match of the venue by the “Pharmacy Boys”.
The Liberia football Association approved the field as the club’s new home ground through the competition department, after the club’s licensing department of the association approved the venue as the team’s official home.
Thursday, March 7, 2024, in its first home match, the boys from the Pharmacy came from a goal down to even happenings in the scoreline, holding Mighty Barrolle to a one-all draw in the Liberia Football Association Orange Cup.
The Visitors scored on 12 minutes through a header from Nuch Zohn seven yards away from the goalpost, sending the Kanyan Pepper faithful into celebration for the first time after many years at the field that was refurbished by former president George Weah and dedicated as one of his last projects as President.
The halftime won by Mighty Barrolle remained an outstanding fight for Global Pharma Football Club to settle the dust using all energies and tactics. Ten minutes to the end point of the game, Amadiya Kawah hit the leveler.
With no one side at a goal or win advantage over the other, the two first division squads will heat up for greater performance at the second leg of the Orange Cup, which is expected to take place at the Dorris Williams Sports Pitch.
The second leg will be played March 20, 2024 according to the LFA/Orange Cup fixture and will be staged at the home ground of the Rollers in Buchanan City, a venue that Barrolle poses an incredible record.
