Ghanian National Arrested With Marijuana

The Liberia Drugs Enforcement Agency (LDEA) has arrested and subsequent detained Eugene Oppong, 57, a Ghanian national for being in possession of marijuana drugs in Nimba County.
Speaking at the LDEA office in Sanniquellie, Malison Gaylah explained that the suspect was arrested on a commercial vehicle at Loguatuo Border in Nimba County.
According to the LDEA, suspect Oppong was arrested by the joint security while enroute to Monrovia.
“The drug comprises of 5.4 KG compressed marijuana from Ghana brought into the country for business purpose,” LDEA revealed.
Gaylah narrated that suspect Oppong admitted ownership of the drugs during preliminary investigations in the county.
“The suspect has been charged with unlicensed importation, trafficking, distribution and possession of controlled drugs or substances,” the LDEA pointed out
“Suspect Oppong will be for prosecuted in Nimba in line with the Constitution,” Gaylah said.
This the second arrest of a Ghanaian national with compressed marijuana in less than a month on a commercial vehicle that is creating serious concern among the residents in the county.
It can be recalled that during the beginning of October 2024, LDEA arrested the driver of a bus with service name ‘Ghana Airway’ with five pieces of marijuana compressed plates found under the driver’s seat in Sanniquellie at the LIS check point.
