Gender Minister Addresses Women’s Confab In Rwanda Today

The Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection, Williametta E. Saydee-Tarr, is expected to be addressing a special panel discussion under the topic ‘Power Her Potential,’ at the 2023’s edition of the Women Deliver Conference in Kigali, Rwanda today.

Mrs. Tarr is expected to share the panel with some highly influential women leaders focusing on the case for investing in the empowerment of girls and young women.

The Women Deliver 2023 Conference (WD2023) is one of the largest multi-sectoral convening’s to advance gender equality, expected to convene over 6,000 people in Kigali and 200,000+ people online, through virtual.

The gathering will take place in-person in Kigali, Rwanda from July 17-20, 2023, and is anticipated to enable inclusive and co-created spaces that foster solidarity for sustainable solutions on gender equality.

Serving as panelist alongside prominent women leaders, including Madam Jeanette Bayisenge, Rwanda’s Minister of Gender, Dorothy Gwajima, Minister of Gender-Tanzania, UNFPA Executive Director, Madam Natalia Kanem, Madam Anita Zaidi, President, Gender Equality Division, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and Madam Rudo Kayombo, the Regional Director-Africa, BRAC International, the Gender Boss is expected to be inspired with the anticipation of leading renewed action-driven initiatives, and harness additional knowledge, skills, and connections, which are pivotal in achieving Liberia’s advocacy goals for the empowerment of girls and young women.

The Gender Boss is also expected to participate in the opening session of WD2023 and the ministerial forum on the 17th of July.

The WD2023’s Conference is being powered with objectives to catalyze collective action to advance gender equality, hold leaders accountable, empower the feminist movement, reframe who leads and at the same time, create space.

Additionally, the WD2023 promotes a robust civic space for feminist action, organization and mobilization, by creating space for critical dialogue, knowledge sharing and networking.

The gathering further seeks to ensure that underrepresented populations and advocates representing the intersectional identities of girls and women, particularly those living in low and middle income countries, are meaningfully engaged.
