As the 2023 general and presidential elections draw nearer, a former notorious chicken rogue in Bong County, Max Vargbelee, has declared his intention to contest for Liberia’s presidency.
The American- based Liberian politician told journalists in Gbarnga, Bong County that during his days in the county, he was involved in stealing people’s chicken in the county.
According to Dr. Vargbelee, because of his criminality, he did not marry a daughter from the county on grounds that no parent wanted him to marry their daughter.
“I’m saying this story about myself because I want the Liberian people to know it so they vote for me in the pending 2023 elections,” Dr. Vargbelee added.
However, the 2023 presidential aspirant revealed that he has been refined, transformed or changed but not by man but by the almighty God.
Moreover, Dr. Vargbelee at the same time alleged that the Weah-led government has failed the Liberian people thereby making special reference to Article 1 of the 1986 Constitution of Liberia.
Article 1 of the 1986 constitution says “All power is inherent in the people. All free governments are instituted by their authority and for their benefit and they have the right to alter and reform the same when their safety and happiness so require. To ensure a democratic government that responds to the wishes of the governed, the people shall have the right at such period, and in such manner as provided for under this Constitution, to cause their public servants to leave office and to fill vacancies by regular elections and appointments.”
But on the contrary, the Bong County son alleged that the Weah-Taylor-led government has reduced the Liberian people to a mere beggar, and that the ordinary downtrodden cannot even have a full day’s.
Additionally, Dr. Max Vergbelee named rampant corruption and massive looting of the state resources that supposed to benefit the majority but are being enjoyed by a few government officials in the Weah government, while the majority are living in poverty.
Dr. Vargbelee said the Weah-led government was overwhelmingly elected in the 2017 elections on the basics of change for the improvement of the ordinary citizens’ lives in the country.
The presidential aspirant at the same time said the security system under a Weah-led government is disarranged or disorganized in the country.
He said the security situation in Liberia is very reprehensible, noting that people have been killed under the Weah-led government and further alleged extra-judicial killings without proper investigation.
