FLY’s President Suspended For Time Indefinite

The Federation of Liberian Youth (FLY) has suspended its president, Amos Williams, for time indefinite for what it considered as an alleged “constitutional breach.”

Announcing the decision yesterday in Monrovia, Jacob Flomo, FLY’s 1st vice president who claimed to be acting has mandated the president to hand over all properties in his possession.

He said the decision to indirectly sack Amos Williams was taken by the National Executive Committee of the Federation for allegedly overstepping his presidential duties.

Flomo stated among many other things that Williams took a unilateral decision in naming members of the federation’s electoral body for the pending polls.

He said Williams’ action to unilaterally appoint the body’s electoral commission contravenes the FLY’s By-law and Constitution.

Flomo asserted that all frantic efforts by FLY’s Board Chairperson, Julius Sarwolo Nelson, president of the University of Liberia and Zoegar Wilson, Minister of Youth and Sports to intervene proved futile.

“Some members including the two named above of the board tried to intervene and resolve the matter, but to no avail. Therefore, members of the national executive committee have no option but to act in accordance with the Constitution,” he noted.

The leaderships of these two national bodies had from time to time always fermented internal wrangling as everyone wanted to prove supremacy either by being the most “bookish man or woman” by claiming to know better.
