FIBA Africa Qualifies Mighty Barrolle For Elite 16

The Federation of International Basketball Association of Africa (FIBA Africa) has qualified Liberian National first Division Basketball Champions Mighty Barrolle to the elite 16 basketball event poised to take place in Abidjan, Ivory Coast.
Still feeling fresh from Libya where they participated at the Road to BAL, Mighty Barrolle is again at the verge of hitting the road to represent Liberia at another international competition under the watchful eyes of the African Basketball governing body at FIBA.
A communication recently issued from FIBA to Liberia has recognized the LBA champions for their reintroduction to continental duel by their performance in the first FIBA tournament after many years when they were banned from touching the international stage due to leadership crisis.
According to the communication making rounds across different media platforms, FIBA Africa qualified the Liberian Champions as a Wild Card qualifier from the Road to BAL Western Division to the Elite 16 that is scheduled for November 5-10, 2024.
The communication was addressed to both the head coach of Mighty Barrolle, Assad Fadel who is the team representative at the continental level, along with the Secretary General of the Liberia Basketball Association, Calvin Diggs, who is the chief scribe of the basketball house in Liberia.
In one of the many lines in the letter, FIBA also requested that Mighty Barrolle confirm their participation for the Elite 16 within less than two weeks to the kick off of the competition.
It can be recalled that Mighty Barrolle for the first time in many years formed a part of the road leading to the Basketball African League (BAL) which is sponsored by the National Basketball Association (NBA) in the Americas.
During the preliminary qualifiers in Tripoli, Libya, the Liberian Champions finished in the third position of their group after securing a win from three matches in the group stage.
They were placed in group with the African Basketball Club, ABC Fighters of Ivory Coast, Benin’s Champions Elan Cotton and Ghana’s Sprintex Knights.
ABC Fighters finished as winners of the group while Ghana’s Sprintex Knights finished as runners up.
