The alleged failure to investigate an Immigration Border Patrol Vehicle Commander for allegedly flogging police officer Sweetie Berh in River Gee is becoming concerning.
Female officers from the Liberia National Police are accusing police authorities in collaboration with LIS-Border Patrol authorities of ordering officer Berh to drop her complaint against the LIS commander on grounds that he being a commander makes him a senior officer and her superior.
According to the female officers, Officer Berh complaint and invitation were all gathered under the pretense of taking statement over the weekend but, that was all a fiasco.
“The people who were investigating the case have all turned to beggars for the LIS-Border Patrol Commander so as to ensure that the he goes with impunity,” a female CSD officer revealed.
“We the female officers assigned at the border lines or at various checkpoints are vulnerable; anybody can harm you or flogged you and nothing will come out of it; we want justice in this case and the law must prevail,” the female officers contended.
“Female LNP officer Maron Cooper was flogged during the middle of October 2024 in Sanniquellie while on duty by another LIS officers,” they recounted; “Now, during the middle of December 2024, Officer Berh was flogged and injured in Tonglawin in Gompa over alleged delay to drop gate.”
However, since the incident of the flogging of the female officer linking the LIS border patrol commander in River Gee, police authorities including the Ministry of Justice remain tight-lipped over the case.
When this paper contacted ACP Mendin Larmie via mobile phone, the phone ring endlessly without answer up to press time.
When the regional commander for Nimba, Bong and Lofa Counties, Douwue Goldoe was contacted via mobile phone, he said the case has been settled but, remain tight-lipped to explained how it was settled.
But Officer Berh is saying that she is afraid of her bosses and might leave everything with God because they who are supposed to investigate the case are ordering her to drop it.
“He beat me in uniform until I urinated on myself. I reported the case to our commander and nothing is coming out of it; they are telling me to let him go back on his assignment,” LNP Berh cried out.
