A high-level delegation from the Forestry Development Authority (FDA) including key technical and administrative staffers leave Monrovia on Monday, April 15, 2024, to begin a weeklong tour in five leeward counties.
Led by FDA Managing Director, Rudolph Merab, the team is expected to tour several strategic locations in Grand Bassa, River Cess, Since, Grand Gedeh, Grand Kru, and Nimba Counties respectively where its facilities are situated.
The tour, representing the first leg, according to a press release from the FDA, will allow the new management team to hold acquaintance meetings with local communities and key authorities about forest governance.
The delegation is also expected to also inspect projects being undertaken by partners in these locations including Sarpo Park as well as proposed protected areas.
It can be recalled that while assuming office recently, Managing Director Merab vowed to set a new pace whereby the FDA will regain its rightful national and international image.
He promised to make the FDA autonomously relevant consistent with the 4cs equation including Community, Commercial, Conservation, and Carbon trade programs.
