Fassell Football Club has resurrected to the football arena of the country as they stand just two matches away from claiming the championship of the national first division league of the Liberia Football Association.
The club which resurfaced in the league this season following the release of its chief executive from jail sentence in the US has branded his side as the most competitive, hopeful of winning the league title despite starting at fresh from the developmental program that got ruined when they encounter some administrative issues that broke the club down more than half a decade ago.
The new boys with an effective management have dominated the nation’s topflight since their reintegration and are about to be crowned the newest champions if they are to win any two of their remaining four games to conclude the ongoing league season.
Cassell Kouh’s missionaries are nine points currently clear over the league table after 22 rounds of matches played in the fourteen clubs’ league. The team has recorded the highest victories losing the least number of game points as well as scoring the highest number of goals against all competitors in the 2024/2025 league season.
From the 22 rounds of matches played across the competition, the statistics from FC Fassell in the football house data base is counting 14 wins for the club, five draws and three defeats.
This stat shows the best performance for a single club so far leaving Heaven Eleven football Club and Discoveries Sports Academy as the second best two with a task to search for a space in the top five as the competition draws closer to an end.
Fassell recently solidified their stance at the top with a narrow 1-0 win over Heaven Eleven at the Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Complex practice pitch in Paynesville.
The table leader went to the clash with their desire to extend their lead knowing that an attempt to lose a point could restore the fighting spirit in their opponents that was also seeking to reduce the point gap between them.
Both teams clashed with clear display of evidence in performance that justified their respective stay at the top but Lawrence Kumeh’s lone goal took the day for the missionaries.
After a teammate was shown a red card during the first half, Kumeh responded with a classic strike to take his side ahead before the break. The rest of the 45 minutes after the halftime was all dominated by Heaven Eleven who used their numerical advantage but there was no way to cancel Fassell’s 10-men goal defense strategy till full time.
There are four games remaining to end the current league season in Liberia and six of those outstanding points will be just enough to have the table leader crowned champions.
