A pro-democracy organization, the Faith and Justice Network, is urging the Liberian government to take tougher actions against corruption by ensuring that convicted individuals not only face legal consequences but also have their ill-gotten wealth confiscated and returned to public coffers.

Speaking at a press  conference yesterday, the network’s Executive Director, Tolbert Jallah, emphasized that corruption should not lead to personal enrichment but rather results in the loss of unlawfully acquired wealth and privileges.

He stressed that the proceeds of corruption must be redirected towards projects that benefit the Liberian people, such as infrastructure, education, and healthcare.

Reverend Jallah maintained that those who exploit their positions for personal gain should face significant prison sentences that reflect the severity of their crimes.

He called on the Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission (LACC), the Asset Recovery Team, and the Ministry of Justice to fully enforce anti-corruption laws and push for stricter legal measures where necessary.

The Faith and Justice Network also commended President Joseph Boakai for suspending government officials who have failed to declare their assets as required by law.

Reverend Jallah described this action as a step toward greater accountability and transparency, urging all public servants to comply with legal requirements.

Reaffirming the organization’s commitment to justice, transparency, and good governance, Reverend Jallah called on Liberians citizens, government officials, and civil society groups to support anti-corruption efforts and work collectively for the nation’s progress.

“It is time to hold those in power accountable and take back what has been stolen from the people of Liberia,” he stated.

The Faith and Justice Network vowed to continue advocating for ethical leadership and the eradication of corruption across all sectors of society, working alongside national and international stakeholders to build a just, equitable, and prosperous Liberia.
