The Embrace Your Mind (EYM) Foundation, a non-profit, non-governmental organization based in the United States, distributed food and non-food items to communities in Gbaba Town and surrounding areas in Clay Ashland, Rural Montserrado County valued amounting to thousands of United States dollars.
The initiative aimed to spread holiday joy and ensure the community experienced the magic and happiness of the Christmas season, benefiting over 200 individuals in the region.
Pastor Della Belleh, wife of Bishop M. Wolo Belleh of Harvest Continental Ministries, led the trip to Clay Ashland accompany by Madam Sarah Benson, who traveled from the United States representing the officers of the foundation.
Pastor Belleh explained that the initiative was EYM’s way of connecting with the residents and letting them know they are not forgotten by the foundation’s founder and CEO, Bendu Dean, a native of Clay Ashland.
She also extended heartfelt joy and happiness to the community on behalf of other passionate members, including Madam Christiane Belleh, Constance Teage, Adolphus James, Benla Kanei, and J. Webster Teah Menorwah, who have joined Madam Dean to advocate for the Liberian people.
The Chairperson of Gbaba Town, John K. Belleh, received the items on behalf of the elder council and residents and expressed overwhelming gratitude for the generosity, thanking God for the continued blessings on the work of those who provided.
The donation included rice, clothes, and other items for babies and their mothers.
The Assistant Chairperson of the town, Augustin Govego, also thanked the founder and members of EYM for the kind gesture and used the occasion to appeal for safe drinking water and other social services to improve the community’s living conditions.
He called on other well-meaning Liberians and the international community to follow the example set by EYM.
In a related development, Madam Benson shared the history of EYM with the community and highlighted the organization’s formation, explaining that the vision was born out of the need to address the mental health crisis in Liberia, worsened by decades of civil war.
When Madam Dean returned to Liberia in 2015 after more than 15 years, she observed widespread signs of trauma in the population, including stress, aggression, and mental health struggles.
Since its inception in 2018, EYM has focused on raising mental health awareness and supporting recovery projects across Liberia.
The foundation has hosted workshops and conferences, empowering youth, women, and men, and has provided vital resources such as food, toiletries, and medicine to over 800 malnourished individuals.
Madam Benson also shared the foundation’s immediate priority: the completion of its dedicated mental health center, which began construction in 2023.
The center’s foundation has been laid, with completion targeted for 2025 and the opening scheduled for 2026 aimed at supporting Liberia’s health delivery system, which has been deeply affected by trauma.
EYM emphasized the importance of partnerships with national and international organizations to bring this vision to life.
The foundation urged that every contribution, no matter how small, can make a meaningful impact.
Concluding the history of EYM, Madam Benson expressed, “The need is immense, and any contribution you make will be deeply appreciated. Together, we can build a foundation of hope and healing for Liberia, transforming lives through mental health services and community care.”
