The Liberia Football Association’s Lofa Sub-association kicked off the County Championships Playoff with eight participating clubs on Sunday April 8, 2023.
The clubs emerged as both champions and runner-up from the four different Sub-committees in the county as Lofa County sports steering committee chairperson and CEO of Wologizi FC, Momo Cyrus took the official kick-off of the ongoing league.
Before the kick-off, chairman Cyrus used the occasion to donate eight sets of Jersey and 16 pieces of football to the clubs that are participating in the County Championships Playoff and donated two sets of jerseys and four pieces of football to two of LFA Regional Women’s League Teams that have qualified to the grand finals of the ongoing LFA Regional Women’s League as part of efforts to promote and develop sports in Lofa.
Presenting the items to Mr. Amos Fallah Kpalia, the Chairperson of the Liberia Football Association Lofa Sub-association at the Voinjama Multilateral Sports pitch, Cyrus said, he was impressed with the level of improvement in the county to see 32 teams from different districts participating in LFA National 3rd Division League.
Therefore, it was his way of encouraging and contributing to the growth and development of football across Lofa, and that Lofa has so many talents and there is a need to support the younger ones from the county to enable them to compete at the national level.
He promised to continue to support the county and at the same time called on well-meaning Lofians to do the same. As a way of encouraging the teams in the ongoing playoff, Chairman Cyrus also presented US$200 in cash for the winner of the opening games.
For Chairman Kpalia, receiving the materials on behalf of the Association he said, the association cannot be grateful enough for the numerous contributions made by Momo Cyrus towards grassroots football development.
